Outcome:

First you need to start off with a snowflake background.

Next take an image of a person, animal, or object, and paste it on top of the background.

Now remove the background of the image using the Background Eraser tool so that the item to appears to be on top of the snow flake.

Now set your eraser to about 30% opacity and start to blend the bottom/sides of the image so that it blends into the snowflake background.

Now add a slight drop shade (right click on the layer > Blending Options > Drop Shadow).

Now add some text of your choice and you’re complete!
